Wylie Pharmacy
Aa far back aa can be determined there baa been a drug store at the now
WjUe Pharmacy location on Ballard Ave. since the mid 19th century. C.
M. Gallagher and Dr. Thomas O. Staples were owners at that time. At a
data, not exactly remembered, they sold to Beard and Grimes who
sparated under that name until shortly before the 1920'a.
C-C. Fawcett bought the business and continued to serve the Wylie area
wkh prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines and supplies,
fouatais service, etc. for the succeeding 32 years
la 1962 George W. (BusterI Pendergrass and Heed McNatt bought the
C.C. Fawcett Drug Company. Two years later McNatt sold his interest to
Pendergrass who was then sole proprietor of Wylie Pharmacy
la 1969 the store was completely refurbished with new fixtures and
equipment of a modern pharmacy This was in keeping with the city’s pro-
gram to up-date the store fronts and give a face lift to Wylie's shopping
area. la 1963 son John Scott Pendergrass came in as partner and co-owner.
The partnership continued a successful operation until 1978 when the
Tradergrasses sold to current owner. Bob Fdgin who retained the name of
Wybe Pharmacy. In 1990 Bob remodeled the store, doubled his inventory,
added delivery. Fax A UPS services while continuing to provide citizens
with quality health care needs. Today, as over IUU years ago. the phar-
macy remains a gathering place for many retired farmers and
businessmen of Wylie.
