Funeral services for Josiah
Evans, pioneer •.ockman-far-
mer of Happy and father of Joe
G. Evans of Hereford, were held
! Friday afternoon at the First
Baptist Church in Happy. Mr.
Evans, who was 85 years old,
died on Jan. 10 at Mena. Ark.
Survivors include three sons.
Charles of Happy, Howard of
Phoenix, Arlz., and Joe G. Evans
of Hereford, and five daughters,
Mrs. A. W. Montgomery and
Mlsi Odessa Evans of Happy,
Mrs. Fannie Read and Mrs. Ann-
ie Lee Evans of Mena, Ark., and
Mrs. J. C, Cox of Las Cruces, N.
M. He uiso leaves 15 grandchild-
ren and ten great grandchild-
ren.
Services were conducted by
Rev. John O. Scott of Teague,
sissisiled by Rev. Byron Todd of
Happy and Rev. W. E. Barnes of
Hereford.

Jan. 15. The baby weighed a
little more than six pounds and
has been named Mary Beth.
Mrs. Gilliland is the former

teacher In Hereford High School,
and daughter of Mrs. Nancy Mc-
Oaslln of Ounyon. Paternal
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
J. M. Gilliland.

We were happy to meet for
Sunday School and preaching
Sunday after two or three weeks
In which weather and bad roads
prevented our meeting together.
A very beneficial sermon was
delivered by Rev. Williams.
Mrs. James Bradford and Mrs
Earl Lust accompanied Cadet
James Bradford to Amarillo
Saturday where he took the bus
for Arcadia, Fla. He hud spent
one week here on furlough.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rothwell
had the misfortune of getting
the cub of their pickup damaged
by fire Wednesday. Mrs. Roth-
well had started out of Plain -
view with a load of cake and the
car caught fire from a short
in the Ignition system. With the
assistance of the fire depart-
ment the flames were extin-
guished without further dam-
age.
The Cruse family are moving
to Frionu this week We are
sorry to lose these good people
from our community.
Mrs. E. R. Rothwell wus host-
ess to a lovely dinner Sunday
and wns generous enough 'to ln-
|vitp the entire attendance at

bert were in Hereford Friday

Mrs. Ivor Bagwell is Improved

Mrs. J. G. Davis is recovering
from a severe attack of the flu.
