and George Robert Shieldes
were united in marriage at the
West Church of the Assumption
Saturday at 10:30 am before
an altar bordered with palms
and gladiolas. Rev. Frank Mil-
ler celebrated the Nuptial Mass.
Miss Hruska, the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Hrus-
ka, is a 1956 graduate of West
High School. She attended Texas
Tech College in Lubbock, Texas,
for three semesters where she
was a member of the Newman
Club. She is now employed by
Republic National Bank in Dal-
las.
Mr. Shieldes is the son of Mrs.
Myra Robinson of Goree, Tex-
as, and Mr. Robert George
Shieldes of Wichita Falls. Ho
is a 1056 graduate of West High
School and was graduated from
Texas A. and M. College with a
Bachelor of Business Adminis-
' tration Degree in May. At A & M
he was a member and officer of
the “Society of American Mili-
tary Engineers” and the New-
t man Club.
Mr. Hruska gave his daughter
in marriage. The bride designed
her floor length wedding gown
with a short train made of
white silk organza etched with
Chantilly lace on the bodice
forming a sabrina neckline. The
lace on the bodice is re-em-
broidered with seed pearls.
The long-sleeved gown had a
perfectly plain flowing skirt.

I960 GRADUATES
HONORED WITH SUPPER
The 1960 West High School
graduation class was honored
’ with a fried chicken supper and
dance by the mothers of the
seniors. The event was held May
26 at the SPJST Hall In West.
Among those present were the
seniors and their dates, teach-
ers, and parents of the seniors.

plain floor length dresses made
of white silk organza with a
sabrina neckline and cap
sleeves. White silk organza pic-
ture hats with a narrow yellow
bow and short white gloves ac-
cented the dresses. They carried
colonial bouquets of yellow rose-
buds.
Bill Dillon of Irving was best
man. Groomsmen were Bito
Barrera of Port Isabel and Wal-
ter Kabala and Jerry Nichols of
West. Jim Van Cleave of Mis-
sion, Texas, and Bobby Zivec
and Johnny Kubala of West
were ushers.
Mrs. Ed H. Grimm furnished

mony.

Rehearsal Dinner

Mrs. E. J. Jerabek and Mrs.
J. R. Kubala were hostesses for
a dinner following the rehearsal
for the Hrus'ka-Shleldes wed-
ding on Friday, June 3, at the
Jerabek home.
The bride’s colors of yellow
and white were carried out with
white and yellow roses decorat-
ing the mantlepiece. Yellow and
white roses centered on each
table.
A buffet style dinner of
shrimp creole, tuna casserole,
green beans with almonds, com-
bination salad, relishes, melon
balls, cream jelly roll, angel food
delight, lemon layer tart, ko-
laches, brownies and iced tea
were served.

ment and approaching marriage
of their daughter, Betty, to
Jerry Don Hutson. He is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hutson of

The wedding will take place
August 6 at 8:00 p.m. in the
Austin Avenue Methodist Church
in Waco.

Texas Technological College
where she was a member of
Delta Delta Delta sorority and
was a LaVentana beauty.
The future bridegroom is a
graduate of Texas Technologic-
al College and a member of
Kappa Sigma fraternity and
was a cheerleader at the college.
The future bride is the grand-
daughter of Mrs. J. S. Hruska
of West. Her mother is the for-
mer Irene Hruska of West.
Following the wedding, the
couple will reside in Abilene
where Miss Brown will continue
her studies at McMurry College
and Mr. Hutson will be employ-
ed.

ette Flournoy of Natchez, Mis-
sissippi, announce the engage-
ment and the approaching mar-
riage of their daughter, Mary
Hel n to A-le Bert McMorrough
of West, son of Mrs. Bert Mc-
Morrough and the late Mr. Mc-
Morrough of West. The wedding
will take place at the St. Mary's
Cathedral in Natchez on June 12
at 4:00 p.m.
Miss Flournoy graduated from
Cathedral High School in Na-
tchez. Mr. McMorrough grad-
uated from West Hign School
and is now serving with the
United States Air Force. He is
presently stationed at March
Air Force Base in California.

the First Southern Presbyterian

Moore performed the ceremony.
Tile bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Charles
Aldrich of Fort Thoi.nas, Ken-
tucky. She is a graduate of
Highland High School in Ken-
tucky and is a senior student at
the University of Texas. She is
a member of Delta Gamma sor-
ority and Alpha Lambda Delta.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mrs. Irving O. Olsen of Waco
and the late Eugene Dowman
Denton. He is the grandson of
Mrs. Mattie Denton of West. He
graduated from Waco High
School and received his bache-
lor of arts degree in sociology
from the University of Chicago.
He was a member of Phi Gam-
ma Delta and the student gov-
ernment. He is presently a grad-
uate student at Texas Univer-
sity.
After a wedding trip to Mex-
ico, Mr. and Mrs. Denton will
reside in Austin.
Miss Allison Worden Finney of
Houston and Miss Linda Mar-
garet Rellahan of Dallas were
bridesmaids.

The program consisted of two
vocal duets by Mrs. Henry Kolar
and Miss Geraldine Kolar ac-
companied by Mrs. E. W. Plasek

by Joyce Adamcik.
Approximately 80 guests were
served refreshments of chicken
salad sandwiches, olives, pickles,
kolaches, cake and iced tea. The
refreshment table was decorat-
ed with a centerpiece of daisies,
fern, and yellow candles on a
white damask tablecloth.

at Bill’s Place Thursday night.
Roast beef and garvy, baked

MAN OF MONTH”
Joseph Juroch Jr. sales rep-
resentative for Sinclair Refin-
ing Company in Waco, has won
the honor of the North Central
Texas District “Retail Man of
the Month.”
Because of the outstanding
performance of Mr. Juroch, his
picture will be placed in the
“Retail Hall of Fame” in the
New York Office, the South-
western Division office, and the
District Office in Ft. Worth.
Miss Marcella Vrana became
the bride of Robert Wolf in a
ceremony held at the Church of
the Assumption at 12 noon Sat-
urday. Rev. James Quilter per-
formed the ceremony.
Miss Vrana is the daughter of
Mrs. Sophie Vrana and the late
Mr. Joe Vrana. She is a 1957
graduate of West High School
and is employed at the First Na-
tional Bank in Waco.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Joe G. Wolf. He
served four years in the United
States Air Force and is now
employed by General Motors in
Arlington.
The bride was given in mar-
riage by her brother, Mr. Ed-
ward Vrana. She wore a wed-
ding gown fashioned of em-
broidered nylon and additional

tron of honor. Miss Margaret
Kubelka of Ennis, Miss La
Nette Thweatt of Cameron and
Mrs. Robert Marak of Dallas
were bridesmaids. Their dresses
