Fall enrollment totals 1,682
Final enrollment figures for the
fall 2003 semester show 1,682 stu-
dents attending Panola College
campuses in Carthage, Center,
Jefferson and Marshall.
Barbara Simpson, registrar
and director of admissions, said
the 2003 figure is slightly lower than
last year’s enrollment of 1,694.
High school students on nine
campuses in four counties are tak-
ing dual credit courses at Panola
College. These include Beckville,
Center, Marshall, Waskom, Garri-
son, Jefferson, Timpson,
Shelbyville and Tatum.
“This is the first year we have
had instructors on site at Beckville
and Garrison high schools,”
Simpson said.
Students in Timpson,
Shelbyville, Tatum and Waskom
participate through ITV (Interactive
Television) classes.
“Being able to take ITV classes
allows these students an opportu-
nity to participate without having to
drive an hour or more to get to
campus,” Simpson added.
In addition to ITV classes,
Panola College is offering 23
Internet classes in subjects rang-
ing from music appreciation to mi-
crocomputer applications.
“We are also receiving
courses through ITV from Kilgore
College, Angelina College, UT
Tyler and SFA,” said Ann Morris,
director of distance learning.
