INFOTRAC updates research techniques
—Sara Toe--
-Express Editor-
A new information system
enabling students to access more
references is in place on campus.
The Panola College M.P.
Baker Library is now the proud
owner of a state-of-the-art peri-
odical reference system on CD
ROM.
According to Media Librarian
Phyllis Reed, many public and
academic libraries have added
to reference services with this
net work station called
INFOTRAC.
This "Magazine Index/Select
Database" on CD ROM is de-
signed to meet the research
needs of a small library. It al-
lows users the ability to research
with some 200 magazines and
journals not normally available
at a small facility.
The database is also equipped
with two months coverage of
the New York Times from front
to back.
"We are so excited to be able
to offer this system to our stu-
dents," said Reed. "The CD
ROM INFOTRAC will expand
students availability to current
news topics and update their re-
search capabilities."
The Magazine Index/Select
on CD is a perfect place to begin
research on any of the following
subjects:
• Current Affairs
• People
• Business
• Home and Leisure Activity
• Travel
• Art and Entertainment
• Education
• Consumer reports
• Graded reviews of books,
movies and restaurants
•Companies new INFOTRAC." said Reed,
"Students should watch for "The English instructors will be
workshops on how to use the scheduling these workshops."
