Little Caesar Ton Bonnenfant who came do,-'n
here to Texas from Pawtucket, RI, came up
with the discourse of the week. He lec-
tured all the members in the first platoon
_______________for fully one hour recently on why they al3
should pay strict attention both in class and on the field* He remarked that after
|11 their lives are at stake—that’s all....*Pvt. Prank Keltner, aide-de-camp to all
the sergeants in the orderly room, hails from Upland, Cal# Prank was a truck driver
for the QMC there before his induction..Did you fellas know that whispering Al
fmith was a classy niteclub musician back in Manhattan. Although having played in
most of the top spots in uptown HY, Al confides that his best engagement was up in
the cool Catskills, at world famed Grossingers—-Eddie Cantor’s hang-out back east*
Ho sooner did Corporal Bob Rattan return to us from the hospital than, did
twin, Corporal Claren larger take off for native California on a two-week furlough.
*•••• We can now report that Max Brown has finally learned where Merkel is located.
Information has come to us that he attended church there last Sunday* We are however
curious to know who accompanied him.....Burt Bakeman, former Washington mail carrier,
now may be called a professional guard. When not assigned to this duty himself, he
takes great pleasure in pulling it for some worthy lad.
Although he was bom right beside the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Penna.,
fvt. William Howard Taft Kennedy was drafted directly out of a music teaching post
at a Kentucky University......While we are in the music department—our new bugler ,
|s Johnny Rabusic. Another Pennsylvanian coming from Elwood City, tooter John was
& laboratory tester in one of the nation’s largest steel mills.....Jack Bussell, the
company movie grinder, was a professional projectionist back in Chicago where he
handled machines is some of the Windy City’s ranking showhouses.....Bid you fellows
notice a confused soldier line-up with us at last Saturday’s inspection. He was from
the 1851st and just had time to race off before we opened ranks. Lucky thing. He
naver would pass our E & T rigid inspection*
jr Since Harvardman Leete Ekstrom has been moved up to a desk job, former ain-
qraft worker from Betroit, Eugene Zasada has been given the mail assignment.....Korra
Weissberg, a HYU grad hopped over to B & T during the past week. A native Hew Yorker,
ftorman participated in considerable copywriting for a nationally known ad firm. He
did much research and collaboration for some of the best radio shows.....One reason
I'hat Bay Clegg spends so much time in the PX is a certain employee named Boris. Bay,
yrho claims that she holds more interest in her fingernails than in her job, has in-
vited her to E & T’s Prom tonite.....Private Bill BeHarde is a mechanotherapist.
23ill, an Erie, Pa., resident, is one of three such specialists devoting their talents
foot maladies*....Gilbert Buncan, Annex truck pilot, observed one of his happiest
moments in the Army recently when he was called upon to drive the camp’s Russian
vehicle.....A regular Bed Cross craft worker is William Pullman. Back in civilian
life, Bill was a. carpenter and painter around Strawberry Point, Iowa.....One of the
most business-like CQ,’s we watched perform in some time is T/4 Wesley McGee. Perhaps
his rdpching experience down in south Texas aided him in the discharge of this duty.
Another cowboy, Pfc. Billie Smith
from Cheyenne, Wyoming is still showing
brother B & T’ers his leg injury incurred
at the recent Abilene Pair Grounds Rodeo.
In addition to the injuried foot, 3ill can
also show a part of .the forty-eight dollars
he won by remaining eight seconds astride
a jumping Brahma bull.....Irishman Bingy
demands that all area radios be shut-off
at nine o’clock while Bill Paist, our meek
and always smiling supplyman promises to
invite all fellas affected by Bingy’s
violence to listen in on Sarge Bon Jones
radio in the supplyroon.
