A meeting of the faculty was opened with prayer by President Beto at
7:30 P. M. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read by
the secretary.
Presented for consideration were the academic and behavior records of
sophomore high school students and . It was determined to
consider both students for definite action at the end of the school year.
The record of freshman high school student revealed D's in reli-
gion and English, an F in algebra, an F in speech, and a B in general
science. It was decided to retain him until the end of the year and to
determine possible dismissal then.
The graduation class rejected the proposal of having a number of student
speakers at their ceremonies in May. The President declined the sophomore
college class' invitation to act as their speaker. Consequently it was
decided to ask the Reverend Oliver Harms, pastor of Trinity Church, Houston,
and chairman of the Board of Directors' Sub-cammittee on Colleges, to speak
at the exercises. Dr. Martin J. Neeb, Executive Secretary of the Board for
Higher Education, will be requested to officiate at the dedication of Texas
Hall.
The faculty was requested to begin to determine which students would be
eligible for the medals awarded yearly for excellence in the various major
subjects in each division.
It was decided that unexcused absences from class in the high school
would be reflected in the subject and deportment grade of the offender.
Faculty members voted to co-operate in this matter.
The next meeting of the faculty was scheduled for Monday evening, April 27,
at 7:30.
