A special meeting of the faculty was called to order by President
Beto with prayer at 4:00 P. M. The announcement followed that
Student , a college sophomore, had consumed approximately
a quart of sacramental wine taken from Birkmann Chapel during the
early hours of the preceding Sunday. The President made mention
of the frequent evidences of the student's instability and added that
he has been a scholarship student since he entered Concordia. After
a discussion of the case the faculty resolved that be suspended
for a year.
The President mentioned the contemplated visit of Student
's mother and pastor, whoLintend to plead for clemency.
The faculty resolved to count the Friday after Thanksgiving
as a part of the holiday after deciding to conduct the classes for
that day on the preceding Saturday, November 21.
The President announced that a recent meeting in Saint Louis
disclosed the combined problems of no campus site, no buildings,
no faculty, no President, and no curriculum for the forthcoming
Senior College. The faculties of all preparatory schools will aid
in suggestions for the curriculum of the new school and for changes
in offerings on the preparatory level in our existing institutions.
We shall, accordingly, need more meetings in November. All plans
must be formulated before December 1. Guidelines will be provided
us by the Board for Higher Education.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:11 P.M. Present were President
Beto, Associate Professors Viehweg, Huebschmann and Leja, Assistant
Professor Linse, Instructors Dinda, Olson and Kramer, and TeachingAssistant Getting.
Respectfully submitted,
/tretary
