3.
hours in the freshman year.
Agreed that three hours of Ecomomics is inadequate, we propose six hours of
intensive Economics in the sophomore year, coupled with a three hour course
in Psychology and a three hour course in the History of Education.
THE DIVISION OF NATURAL SCIENCES, MATHEMATICS, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, HEALTH
AND HYGIENE
PHYSICAL EDUCATION - The faculty feels that a two hour classroom course be
offered on the freshman level, presenting playground
methods, sports values, health, hygiene and the
general integration of the physical in any life
situation.
Thereafter a two hour non-credit program, stressing
gymnastics, calisthenics and intra.-mural sports,
would be the junior collecre requirement for the three
remaining semesters.
THE NATURAL SCIENCES - The reaction of our faculty to the current Physical
Science Survey course is negative because very little
work of an intensive kind can be accomplished in the
individual areas of mathematics, astronomy, geology,
physics, etc.
Hence our staff decided to suggest a six hour Biological
Sienceurvey in the freshman year comparable to the
current course in the sophomore year.
Convinced that a laboratory course has definite values
for aiding the development of analytic thinking, the
faculty advised a laboratory course in College Physics
for six or eight hours in the sophomore year.
