Dear Mr. Horst:
The appropriation of #15,OCX).00 for
buildings at the Lutheran Concordia College of
Texas, Austin, for the scholastic years 1929 *»
<32 was quite a deviation of the trend of thought
to these Texans. There is so much to be done and
evolving a scheme for best utilizing this sum was
quite a problem. Dormitory space is needed - class
rooms - residences - janitor*s quarters, and
several service spaces.
Whatever is built should be of a permanent
character. With this idea in mind we wish to see
tuis group comoleted some day.
After a careful survey we propose building
the future boiler room with future kitchen above,
which are now to be used as class rooms. These
class rooms will relieve some space in the present
building which is demanded as dormitory quarters.
This proposal has been accepted by the
Board of Control in Texas. Blue prints of the con-
templated unit are sent herewith. The enclosed
group plan shows this block marked in red.
The type of construction is to be similar
to the present building reinforced concrete, hollow
tile, face brick and steel sash. The interior
partitions are to be temporary metal lath and plaster
We estimate that this structure should be built
within the appropriation.
We have one more suggestion. If any money
is left over in this building, a small four-room
frame cottage be erected for the janitor, thus
giving the space he now occupies over to a much
