Refining Plant to Cross
Plains for Pioneer Oil
Houston Post Special.
CROSS PLAINS. Texas. June 20.
Arrangements for the location of an
xtenaive refining plant on the Haley
farm adjoining the townsite of Cross
'Plains to the east were completed the
past week by J. D. Ford representing
i k 'refinery interests of Brlsfcow Okla.
Mr. Ford a refinery man of consider-
able experience la the Inventor of a
new process that it is claimed will ex-
tract from 6 to 7 per cent more gaso-
line from crude oil than the old pro-
"cess. '''The location selected Is the first for
a refinery In this section to serve the
Pioneer field. Most refineries have
been awaiting further development In
the field before making plans for the
erection of refineries. The Bryson
and Eakln gushers ' however Tlave
.demonstrated the productivity of the
field and negotiations are now under
way for tbe location of another plant
here. Two casing head gasoline plants
r are to be located in the field also ac-
cording to announcements near the
big production aea.
Interest continues high in that sec-
tion south of Cross Plains with the
Increase In the oil flow from the old
Pennant gusher. This well Is now
; reported making close to 100 barrels
lof oil dally In addition to its ass flow.
'Tests being sunk in that district are
being rushed to Its production level.
'Crabb et al have cased off and are
now drilling in their No. 1 Helms
'Which encountered a 20-foot sand at
190 feet that produced a million cubic
feet of gas daily with a strong show-
ing of oil. It was decided to drill to
deeper horisons in this test. If con
sldered feasible. It is probable the 190-1
