Ray's court alleging assault to murdor
against Bert Meenan. who .was placod
under arrest late Tuesday afternoon fol-
lowing the Shootwg of Bert Buckler 2502
Rusk avenue. . Buckler 1 a awltcbman
employed by the International . and Great
Northern railroad.
Meenan was transferred to the county
bastile Wednesday. . His examining trial
has not yet been set although Judge Ray
said Wednesday it probably would not
take place until the wounded man : has
recovered sufficiently .to appear aa a
witness. ..
District'-. Attorney- Crooker 'obtained'
Wednesday additional statements from
Mrs. BucTcldr and othera who were eye-
witnesses of the shooting. None of their
statements made any material change In
what Sir. Buckler gave the Investigators
of the district attorney's office at the In-
firmary Tuesday night.-
Mr. Buckler lies on a bed at the-Infirmary
only a few rooma distant from
J. B. Roberts Ice jwagpn driver. Both
men are victims of shooting; scrapes.
Roberta was ehot early on last Friday
morning at Fannin street and Lamar

' Robert Bharman one of Houtton's best
known hack drivers popularly known as
"Shorty" fell dead at Humble at 1 o'clock
Wednesday afternoon Bharman had been
employed in the oil fields for the past
month. He waa 47 years of aae.

death resulted from natural causes.
Bharman bad a stand at the Grand Cen-

Bayou road about 9:30 o'clock Wednesday
morning -and on his departure carried
with him many valuable articles of jew.

Mrs. Mowery waa alone In the front
part of the house at the time and did not
hear tbe intruder when . he entered
through the rear door ' The burglar also
helped himself to a portion of a steak
that waa on the dining room table
An Investigation waa later made by the
detective department who have a good
description of the Intruder . .
Mr. Mowery gave the detectives a list
of the articles stolen -as follows: . Ons
