This issue of Loblolly is the product of a
new staff in a new school year. Some of the ar-
ticles include efforts by last year's staff, but
these too effect efforts by this present team of
Gary students. We are now beginning the fourth
year with the magazine which is our oral history
project to collect, publish, and preserve the
history and folklife of our part of East Texas.
Loblolly started as a Bicentennial effort but will
continue on beyond 1976.
It already has been a busy year and I don't
think the pace will slow down. This fall we have
made presentations on the magazine learning con-
cept in Galveston and San Antonio. Six of the
juniors are working on a major effort collecting
stories on recreational and fun activities in the
past. We are assembling a report on Walter Webb's
birth and earliest days in Panola County. So to
us at Loblolly, our days mean variety of activity
to say the least.
Thanks again for your continuing support of
Loblolly.
