THE NORMAL STAR
SENIORS-JUNIORS DEFEAT SOPHS.
FISH IN TRACK MEET.
[Continued from page I]
Hughes of the Seniors, won
first in the shotput and first in
discus. In the latter event the
discus was hurled quite a good
distance, not far, in fact, from
local record.
Hughes again takes first in the
hammer throw, tossing the pellet
almost across the field. Mapp
of the Juniors, won the mile in a
walk, there being no one who
could interest him.
Two local records were set by
Greer of the Seniors in the high
and broad jump.
The relay team for the upper
classmen was composed of:
Lewis, Hughes and Greer Broth-
ers.
The final score stood 78 to 60
in favor of upper classmen.
The meet was beneficial in
every way. The spectators and
the contestants enjoyed it to the
limit. Friendly rivalry marked
the entire evening and it is hoped
that this meet will constitute a
beginning for an annual inter-
class meet between the upper
and lower classmen of the school.
The men showed the results of
good thorough coaching, both in
races and in the weights. Mr.
Marsh has been putting full time
on the squad and everything
looks good for the coming season
on the cinder path.

TRAINING SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
Anna- ‘‘Was William Pit the
same as William Penn?”
The baseball team of the Train-
ing School played a game with
the West End town team Wed-
nesday afternoon on their field
in Westover. The result of the
game was 6-2 in favor of the
West End. Our boys were not
accustomed to fielding on a
mountain side so therein lay our
defeat. Shands pitched a good
game.

Mr. Burkholder (In Rural Eco-
nomics)—At the “cradle” was
used, the women helped to reap
the harvest. The girl raked the
grain together, and lier sweet-
heart followed and bound it into
bundles. That was before my
time, however.

“Dear old dad,
I take my pen
To let you know
I need a ten.
I really hate
To bother you;
If lacking ten,
A five will do,
If short a five,
Just send one;
Must study now,
Your loving son.
