Rusk t-ball all stars 2nd
The Rusk t-ball all-stars
proved they were road warriors
- even at a young age -
during the District 6 regional
tournament last week.
The team finished second after
playing two games in five hours
with only a 30-minute break
in between. After winning the
first game, the all-stars went
toe-to-toe with the Palestine
Rangers, tied until the final
inning when the Rangers broke
through, 19-15.
Despite that, head coach
Jeremy Driver said he was
most impressed with his team’s
resolve.
“We got to the field at 5:30
p.m. and started warming up,
and we didn’t walk off the field
until 10:30 that night,” Mr.
Driver said. “They were worn
out at the end, but they’re a
good, tough group.”
Rusk was one of six teams in
the tournament, along with one
from Wortham and two each
from Palestine and Fairfield.
The team is coached by Mr.
Driver, with assistants Britt
Patterson, Oliver Sturns and
Armando Torres.
Team members are Shane
Ball, Xavier Kendrick, Alex
Patterson, Landon McIntyre,
Jeran Driver, Dyson Mabry,
Jermichael Sturns, Luke
Smith, Isabel Torres, Braxton
Lewis, Jacob Dowling and
Tanner Brooks.
