EXCUSES
Someone has said, "There aren't
enough crutches in the world to
support all the lame excuses.''
I've noticed this about people
who make excuses—they are
never wrong! They wish to
create the impression with
themselves that they can explain
away any deficiency, any failure
to function properly or every
defeat by creating an excuse.
But now and then I'll meet
someone mature enough and
self-confident enough to accept
the blame for a mistake rather
than produce some lame excuse.
The redeeming thing about the
Prodigal Son was his willingness to
say Jo his father, "I have sinned—"
That may just be the single most
important teaching which that
parable contains. For the Scripture
says, "If we confess our sins, He
is faithful and just to forgive our
sins and cleanse us from all
unrighteousness." (I John 1:9)
God offers no excuses-for He
never fails!
