At the time the Ground
Hog was supposed to show we j
almost forgot about that lit-
tle woodchuck seeing his
shadow but now we wish he
hadn’t, if that means any-
thing.
All this freeze was sorta
expected at least one more
time and I suspect we’ll be in
for a longer spring with more
freezes than usual.
We followed the tracks of
pickups that had chains and
didn’t slip around as much
while driving. However we
noticed Bobby Pepper wearing
golf shoes as the answer to
a postman’s walking problem.
Three collisons happened un-
avoidably, with some damage
to vehicles but none for occu-
pants, fortunately.
Lawrence Clifton walked
out his front door and after
emergency treatment, report-
ed that the first thing he
knew he’d landed on the icy
lawn on his head. He’ll wear
a few stitches a few days.
Weather like this week al-
ways makes us thankful that
we work indoors and don’t
have to worry about our live-
stock. Rising production costs
and the same retail prices
(all without subsidies) don’t
cause physical discomfort,
other than headaches.

Tommy and Opal Gaylen
are living in San Angelo a-
gain. They were guests of the
E. T. Millers of Big Lake
Thursday and Friday. Friday
afternoon they drove out to
Texon for some visiting with
old friends.
Saturday afternoon and
Sunday guests of the E. T.
Millers were their son Tom-
my and wife Nancy of San
Angelo. Tommy came out to
observe his birthday with
Mom and Dad. The couple are
students at ASC.
The Curtis Howards of Ris-
ing Star were seeing old
friends and relatives in West
Texas last week. Mother en-
joyed meeting them and I
had the pleasure of a visit.
Lida Mae and Curtis looked
great—think Rising Star and
retirement agrees with them.
Thursday the Texon women
and several guests got to-
gether for coffee. The Bob
Adams, Curtis Howards, Mrs.
O. C. Harvey and Mrs. Jack
Stewart were guests. It was
a pleasant afternoon for all
those attending.
Doris and Gordon Gaston
had Dave and Vida Beach of
Kingsland as guests in their
home over the week end.
It has been rather lonesome
around our house since Sun-
day morning when Mom left
for home. It was good for
both Mother and me to be to-
gether again and she says
she will be back before the
year is gone.
