A meeting was held yester-
day morning at the Southern
notel between Capt Puette
John Doak H B Shiner and
Judge James 0 Luby and H
J Delhnar of San Diogo there
were several other gentlemen
present whose names could ttot

The object of the meeting
was the construction of a rail-
road between this city and
Brownsville Messrs Puette
and Doak represent St Louis
capital and are the promoters
in the scheme The matter was
discussed at some length but
no final action taken Judge
Luby exhibited a map of the
country and the subscription
list of the San Diego people
who offer a bonus of 2000 per
mile through that county right
ofway and depot grounds
The route proposed is via
Pleasanton Tilden and San
