The Willson Lectureship was es-
tablished in 1948 by Mr. and Mrs.
J. M. Willson of Floydada, ex-stu-
dents of Southwestern. The lec-
tures are directed to the student
* body in the area of the religious
and social life of young men and
women.
•A native of Brooklyn, New York,
Dr. Brown is executive director of
the Danforth Foundation, Prior to
becoming the executive director of
the foundation in 1950, he was pres-
ident of Denison university, Gran-

40; professor of Biblical literature.
Stephens college, Columbia, Mo.,
1925-30; and assistant in English
department at Harvard, 1921-24.
Dr. Brown holds the B. A. de-
gree from the University of Ro-
chester, the Ph.D. degree from
Harvard university, the LI. D. from
University of Rochester and from
Wittenberg college, the L. H. D.
from Denison university and Keu-
ka college, and the D.D. degree
from College of Idaho.
During World War I, Dr. Brown
served as Ensign, U.SN.R.F. His
fraternities include Phi Beta Kap-
pa, Delta Upsilon, Omicron Delta
Kappa, and Tau Kappa Alpha. He
served as president of the Associa-
tion of American Colleges in 1948-
49. He is a member of Board of
Education, American Baptist con-
vention.
Dr. Brown is the author of ‘‘A
Campus Decade” (University of
Chicago Press), ‘‘Not Minds Alone’
(Harpers), ‘"Character: Bad” -
(Harpers) and “Margie” (Associa-
tion Press).

ber of the Student Christian As-
sociation Council and the Wom-
en’s Recreation Council. She has
been on the dean’s list for three
semesters. Last year she served as
worship center chairman for the
Methodist Student Movement.
TREASURER
JOE BAUSCHER, sophomore,
Pre - Med major from Wichita
Falls is Texas Intercollegiate Stu-
dents Association Correspondent
for the student senate. He is a
member of the German club.
ED GAUNTT, junior, Spanish
major from Georgetown has serv-
ed as President of the Pan Amer-
ican Forum. He is a student as-
sistant in the publicity office.
BUCK REDDING, junior, a his-
tory - government major from Vic-
toria, Texas is a transfer student
from Victoria Junior College. He
entertained on the program at the
freshman dance. An excellent ath-
lete, he was elected to the all star
intramural basketball team. H e
presently serves as president of the
Martin Ruter Dormitory Men’s
Association.
This is the second year that the
student senate has sponsored an
election rally to provide voters the
opportunity to hear the nominees
express their own views of what
they as student body officers can
do for you. The one and a half
hour rally momises to be informa-
tive and fun as backers of each
candidate are working up exuber-
ant demonstrations to follow his
speech. Also there will be an op-
portunity for you to ask the can-
didates questions.
The candidates that you elect
will be your leaders next year.
They will be the ones who repre-
sent you and your ideas to others.
It is yeur obligation as a respon-
sible voter to learn the platform
and ideas of each candidate and to
vote for the person who you feel
will best represent you. As student
leaders of the entire campus com-
munity, your student body officers
must transcend the bonds of loyalty
to fraternal organizations. It is es-
sential that you as voters transcend
