While here, they conducted an
inspirational song service Wed-

Church, and a fun, informal
songfest one evening at the
Grundy’s. Friends from the island
as well as visitors from as far as
New Mexico attended.
Bill and Jean appear on
television and radio in Oklahoma,
as well as record gospel songs
nationally.

On December 7th the Episcopal
church will have a spaghetti
dinner and bazaar at the church.
The Second Time Around Shop
will also have longer hours that
day, 2 pm to 4 pm, with alot of
sales on merchandise. Tickets are
available from church members.
The Thanksgiving dinners on
the island this year were all well
attended I’m sure. Cecil Fansler
of On the Beach R. V. Park told
me they had dinner for about 100
people, representing almost every
state and several from Canada. It
is nice when people away from
home can gather for a special day
and make new friends.

EMS DEMONSTRATION
Jewelry - Junk Or Treasure?
BY John Carson
In the weeks to come we will try to answer your questions on jewelry
you have bought or plan to purchase.
When selecting a piece of jewelry there are two reasons to consider
your purchase - Is it something that is eye appealing and pretty no
matter what the price, or is it an investment piece that will escalate in
value? If yours is/the First reason and you simply want to Fill an empty
Finger, you can Find plenty of good values at the many flea markets and
arts & crafts fairs, most of which will be hand made items, especially in
silver; however, most of these craftsmen are just learning their trade and
some of the work will be on the rough side, and most of the time the
stone work will leave a little to be desired. Most of the time they will buy
their stones from someone else and must take their word for the quality.
The only risk involved here is - What if something goes wrong with your
purchase? What if a stone falls out? Who do you complain to? Most of
the time the seller has gone home to Timbuktu and you have another
ring in your junk box, but remember, the price was right.
If investment and beauty is what you are purchasing, go to a person
in business to create custom jewelry and he will help you in your
selection as to stone and workmanship, plus he will be there if you have
a problem.
As the weeks go by we will try to tell you of different points to look
for in your jewelry to be sure that you purchase a quality piece, or come
by our store in The Shell Shop and we will be most happy to talk to you
as we work. Write us at the Jetty with your questions; we will be happy
to answer them for you.

THE BIBLE
by Beth Layton
Key Thought: Ruth . . . (Her love even penetrated the barriers of race).
Naomi, a native of Bethlehem, Judah, with wealth and power, her
husband Elimetech and two sons, Mahlon and Chilion, left their
homeland during a famine for another country more promising. They
settled in Moab. In a few short years their sons married two Moabites
women. Mahlon married Ruth, and Chilion married Orpah. Naomi began
to suffer Financial losses, and soon in this new country was penniless.
Great sorrow came to her in the loss by death of her husband and both
her sons. Now her daughters-in-law were all she had. Naomi realized the
Lord was now dealing with her tor leaving her homeland when she was
needed, to seek a better place. Her confession was, “Call me not Naomi,
but call me Mara, for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I
left my home in Judah full but will return empty”.
Ruth and Orpah clung to Naomi, but she loved them too and felt it
would be a calamity for them to return with her to her homeland. Now
Orpah turned back, but Ruth would not let her go. Weeping bitterly, she
faced her mother-in-law and begged, "Entreat me not to leave, not to
return from following after thee, for whither thou goeth I will go, and
where thou lodges! i will lodge; thy people shall be my people and thy
God my God; when thou dies! 1 wiil die, and there will I be buried the
Lord do so to me, and more also it ought but death part thee and me
Naomi felt her whole being encompassed by Ruth s love. She embraced
her, aware of the bond that would never be broken. (Neither Naomi or
Ruth suspected that these words were immortal and would transcent the
ages).
Naomi and Ruth began their trek afoot with but little money over
mountains, desolate places, descending into deep valleys, crossing
waterways and perhaps some donkeys afforded a little relief. They had a
distance of 120 miles to trek before reaching Bethlehem. Con’t. next
edition. Ref. Book of Ruth.
