SUPREME LODGE
BROTHER ERNEST J. HANKA
DIES IN HOUSTON
It is with deepest regret that
we announce the death of Brother
Ernest J. Hanka, member of the
Supreme Lodge, SPJST,' and imme-
diate past director of District V of
the SPJST. Brother Hanka passed
away in a Hon ston hospital on Sat-
urday, Nov. 6th, 1976, after having
been taken there the day before.
Brother Hanka had been ill and
partially Incapaeitated since about
March of 1975.
Funeral Services were held on
Monday, Nov. 8th, from Heights
Funeral Chapel, with intemient in
Brookside Memoriál Park in Hous-
ton. SL President Nick A. Morris
and Lodge No. 88 President Louis
Hanyš officiated on behalf of the
SPJST Society, in addition to the
Rev.. Lawrence Junek, North Main
Brcthren Church in Houston.
Brother Hanka is survived by his
wife Pearl, mother Mrs. Ida Hanka,
brother Frank Hanka, Jr,, and
his wife, May, stepdaughter Mrs,
Arlené Marshall of Weimar, and
nephews Bruče, Glenn, and Brett
Hanka, all of Houston.
Brother Hanka was elected Dis-
trict V Director in the Waco Con-
vention in 1964 and assumed Office
the following January ist, 1965. He
served actively uhtil he became ill
in March of 1975.
He had served as legal counsel
to the Slavonic Mutual Fire Insur-
ance Association (SVPS) since Jan-
uary, 1968. He held numerous po-
sitions in Lodge 88, including that
of president, board of trustees, luid
other committees, and served as
co-chairman of the !XXIst Conven-
tion in Houston. Several members
of the Home Office of the SVPS in
Rosenberg and of the Supreme
Lodge, SPJST were present at the
funeral Services and acknowledged.
We express our deepest sympa-
thies to this wife, Pearl, and the
other family survivors. Brother
Hanka was a good and loyal SPJST
member and a very competent
member of the Supreme Lodge
representing his district and he
will be missed by all of his co-
workers and all those who knew
him.

RESQLIJTION OF RESPECT
WHEREAS, the sceptre of death
has invaded the home of our Sister
Pearl Hanka and has ealled to life
eternal, her husband and past di-.
rector of Supreme Lodge SPJST
Brother Ernest J. Hanka; and,
WHEREAS, Brother Ernest J.
Hanka left surviving him to mourn
his departure, his wife Pearl, moth-
er Mrs. Ida Hanka, his brother
Frank, his stepdaughter Mrs. Ar-
lene Marshall, and other relatives,
a host of friends and neighbors, all
of whom, with all the members of
the Supreme Lodge SPJST mourn
his departure; and;
WHEREAS, the members of the
Supreme Lodge SPJST desire to
record their sorrow at the death on
Novernber 6, 1976 of Brother Ernest
J. Hanka, esteemed associate who
has worked harmoniously and dili-
gently for the good of the Society
and served as a director for eleven
years.
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED,
that the Supreme Lodge of the
SPJST hereby gives its formal ex-
pressům of sympathy and does
hereby notě in its records the pas-
sing from this life of a loyal mem-
ber, who was esteemed by his as-

sociates, loved by his friends and
respected by all.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,
that a copy of this resolution be
tendered to the family as a humble
expression of heartfelt sympathy
in their bereavement; one copy be
sent to the Vestnik for publication;
and one copy be spread on the min-
útes of the Supreme Lodge SPJST.

NEW BURLESON SPJST LODGE
SETS CHARTERING CEREMONIES
(SPL) In a speciál meeting with
the officers of SPJST Lodge No. 180
Burleson and Supreme Lodge Presi-
dent Nick A. Morris of Temple on
Friday evening, Oct. 8th, plana
were mapped out for the formal
chartering ceremonies of the lodge
to be held on sunday, Nov. 21, 1976,
The ceremonies will be held in St.
Ann’s Catholic Church Parish Halí
on North Renfro Street in Burle-
son, where the organization of the
lodge took plače.
Chartering ceremonies are set to
begin at 1 p.m., with Jerry Janek
serving as program chairman and
Mike Hejl as guide. The installing
officers will be Supreme Lodge
President Nick A. Morris and Su-
preme Lodge Secretary-Treasurer
Leonard Mikeska, both of Temple.
Brief remarks will also be made by
Lodge President Dennís Barabas,
St. Ann’s Pastor Rev. Leon Flusche,
Burleson Mayor Dr. Robert E. Ab-
les, Burleson Chamber of Commerce
President Les Todd, SPJST District
III Director Sid Pokladník of Dal-
las, District III President Ed Ma-
zanec of Waco, District III Sales
Repivesentative Alvin Nesudá of En-
nis, District III Youth Counselor Ed
Kamas of Dallas, and State Youth
Director Dorothy Massey of the
Home Office in Temple. A supper
and refreshments will be served
following the ceremonies, with
musical entertainment planned by
the Panther City Polka Boys. There
will be a nominal charge for the
meal.
Lodge No. 180 was organized on
April 4, 1976, in the Parish Halí at
St. Ann’s. The officers elected at
that meeting and still serving to-
day include: President Dennis Ba-
rabas, Vice President Jerry Janek
