amount being paid to the Vice-Presi-
dent now.
Therefore, it is obvious that the ac-
tion of the Temple Convention regard-
ing the State Organizer and Vice-
Presidenťs position, in voting the
much higher salary was intended more
to promote the organízational sales ef-
torts than the Vřce-Presidenťs po-
sition. Now, if all of this is not record-
ed clearly in the minutes of that con-
vention, or not transcribed correbtly
into the by-laws, then there certainly
is a lot of explaining to do. But by
whom?
While I ani on the subject of expla-
nations, I personally would like to háve
some explanation from someone about
the ovex $2,000,000 surplus that the
SPJST, supposedly has lying around
idle, as stated in several letters in the
Věstník. In recent weeks there appear-
ed in the Vestnik, several letters be-
wailing the idea that there ís lying in
the SPJST treasury and doing no one
any good, over $2,000,000 The writers
of these letters re-ommend and urge
that the coming convention make some
arrangement to spend this money be-
fore the govermnent takés it away
from us. They propose donations to the
Rest Home, building Youth Camps,
hiring additional high salaried help,
making higher refumds to the local
lodges, etc. They clalm that since we
liave all this money and it is not doing
any ,good, we might as well spend it.
All of the proposed projects might be
good if we really had this idle money.
Some of the letters were written by
members who, I am sure, know better
than to spread such baseless propa-
ganda and confuse and mislead thou-
sands of our members, especially those
who will be delegates.
I was a member of the Supreme
Lodge for five years prior and up to
the end of 1960, serving as director
from district one, and I am positive
that dtiring those five years I did not
see and I am sure there was no part of
several million dollars lying around
idle. And, ačcording to the audit re-
ports as published in the Věstník síňce
then, I still am not able to řind any
traces of any $2,000.000 surplus lying
around and doing no good. Every re-
port for the past four years as publish-
ed in the Vestnik, shows where every
dollar of the SPJST money is. The re-
port in the Vestnik of March 18, shows
the assets of the SPJST, as being $12,-
854,373.02, itemizing the aniounts as to
VĚSTNÍK
where all of this money is. Those in-
terested may look at this report, but
you will not find any amount liste d
there as surpuls or idle money. This
report shows as all the others did,
every dollar is well invested except the
Cash on Hand which is ušed to handle
current business and loans. So, there
too, some explaning is due. But by
whom?
In answer to that question, I would
say that the President and the two
Secretaries should explain the situa-
tion to the members. That sort of
propaganda, especially coming through
the Vestnik cannot bring our Order
,any good. Most of the members také it
to be official if it comes through the
Vestnik, and it only conřuses those
that will go as delegates to the next
convention. Those delegates should
be well infcrmed and know the trutli
about everything so as to be able to
form their ideas and opinions when
they will háve to vote on some of
these matters.
This letter is not intended to criti-
cize any of the officers or anyone else,
but is meant to call attention to those
writing letters as to how much idle
money is lying around, to verify what
they hear from someone before writing
to our own páper. In conclusion, I wish
to statě that Bro_ Hejny is needed as a
State Organizer much more than as a
Vice-President, as long as we háve an
active President. If he could use the
money paid to the District Organizers
and pay some of it to the GOOD local
organizers, and perhaps some part of
it to the local lodges, I believe, that
we would operáte smoother.
Bro. Editor, I know this letter is
lengthy and I háve tried to cut it
down where I could, but I want to
make myself clear. I hope you will find
enough space in the Vestnik, and
patience within yourself to publish
this. Thanks,
Fraternally,

Little change is expected in milk pro-
duction in 1964. Output in 1963 wras 1
per cent less than the year hefore. Cur-
,‘rent milk supplies are more nearly in
line with market needs than a year
ago. Government purchases in recent
months háve been light.

THE PRESIDENT WHO
