your holiday dinner to be a suecess,
with the turkey doně to a turn, clean
out your oven, if you háve not doně so,
to avoid the accumulation of grease.
This wiil protéct you from a possible
grease fire. In addition, keep grease
containers away from the stove. If a
grease, fire does start while you are
cooking, cover the burning pan with a
large cover, using a lo-ng-handled fork
to put it in plače.
And throughout the Christmas sea-
son, if there are smokers in your
house, sec that they are provided with
plenty of ashtrays and empty the trays
often. Incidentally, when emptying
them be sure there are no smoldering
cigarette butts in the trays.

One additional hint, with regard to
fire safety, espeeially if you are having
house guests; Many persons, when fire
occurs, háve managed to savé their
lives beeause they knew what to clo
and what not to do.
Here’s what you should do to be
prepared if fire strikes your home:
—Decide now how you would be atole
to savé your family members’ and
guests’ lives were you to awaken and
směli smolte.
—Figuře out two pjossible escape
routes to the ground from any up-
stairs bedroom. It isiťt .likely that both
escape routes would be cut off by
flám es during the ea-rly stage of the
fire.
—If a fire starts, arouse everyone in.
the house. First, before all else, get ev-
eryone out of the house. Count nos es
to see that all are outside.
—Then, after everyone is out of the
house, eall the fire department.
You should háve the fire depart-
ment number posted at your telephone.
But, as an added precaution, learn
the location of the fire alarm box near-
est your home.
Follow these rules and you will háve
an old-fashioned merry Christmas.
