anniversary

CEDAR CREEK LAKE-Maralyn (Fowler) and
Jr. Ely of Cedar Creek Lake celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary by renewing their vows at Har-
bor Baptist Church in Payne Springs Dec. 15.
The couple were wed Dec. 21, 1962, in Gar-
land.
Jr was bom in Point to Bettie (Lee) and Opa Ely.
Maralyn was born in Stamford to Rachal Carr
and Jeff Fowler.
He worked for Hickman Painting Company for
30 years and is now semi-retired. He was also a
United States Army veteran.
She is a homemaker and an occasional substitute
teacher at Eustace High School.
The couple are members of Harbor Baptist
Church.
They have two children, Kimberly Jane Hardy
and husband Steve of Emory and Kevin Ray Ely
and wife Jamie of Cedar Creek Lake.
They are raising their two granddaughters,
Rachael Sandell, 20, and Courtney Sandell, 16, for
the past 11 years.

County Ford is joining
Ford Motor Company in
its ongoing commitment to
the National Future F aim-
ers of America (FFA).
This is the 16th year of
the Built Ford Tough, FFA
collegiate scholarship pro-
gram, awarding $1,000
scholarships to hundreds of
FFA members, each co-
sponsored by Ford Deal-
ers like Tri-County Ford.
Ford has supported the
National FFAsince the first
F-Series truck was intro-
duced in 1948, and has
sponsored the Built Ford
Tough collegiate scholar-
ship program since 1997.
The program, equally
funded by Ford Motor
Company and Ford deal-
ers, has awarded more
than 7 million in scholar-
ships to FFA members.
Tri-County Ford is
sponsoring the 2012-13
Built F ord Tough collegiate
scholarship program for
Mabank, Eustace and
Kemp High Schools by
helping three local students
attend the college of their
choice.
To be eligible, FFA
members must submit an
online 2013 Scholarship

Christian help center cares for the needy

something to help,” Byrnes
said.
“It is nice to see how gen-
erous people are,” he added.
The Kaufman Christian
Help Center assists fami-
lies and individuals on re-
stricted budgets to meet
their daily nutritional needs.
Besides the food pantry
they also provide victims
services, information and
referral services, and anew
Job Core program for
women to leam life skills
as well as basic job train-
ing skills.
The Help Center serves
the cities of Kaufman,
Kemp, Crandall, and
Scurry-Rosser residents.
The Kaufman Christian
Help Center is anon profit
organization that was
started in 2005. Director
Melinda Polk is always
looking for volunteers and
donations.
Although the Help Cen-
ter is sponsored by 18 lo-
cal churches, donations are
still needed from the com-
munity
