New fire truck depends on land sell
By Tim O’Malley
Yorktown News-View
Yorktown City Council could
possibly make just over a half a
million dollars if the property
owned by the city on Lee Alves
Road sells for the asking price.
The city approved plans to sell
the 137.9 acres where the city
dump site used to be located.
During deliberation in the execu-
tive session the council came to
terms that the land must bring in a
minimum of $4,500 dollars per
acre and that the city reserved the
right to reject any and all bids that
came any lower than $620,550.
‘The city is looking to buy the
fire department a new fire truck.
That cost is anywhere from
$250,000-$300,000 and the rest of
the monies will go into the enter-
prise fund,” said Yorktown mayor
Rene Hernandez.
Hernandez further expressed his
concern for the city that if there
were two emergency requests with-
in a short time span that they could
not respond to both for lack of
equipment.
Another agenda item discussed
was the remodeling of the city hall
building.
“The construction remodeling is
three-quarters finished,” said city
manager Robert Mendez. “Some
changes were made which added
some additional costs but they

caught fire.
Fire departments from
Yorktown and Karnes
