KAUFMAN-The
Kaufman County Grand
Jury to the 422nd Judicial
Court indicted Eric Lyle
Williams, 46, and his wife,
Kim Lene Williams, 46,
Thursday on three counts
of capital murder, each.
The announcement came
during a press conference
led by District Attorney
ErleighNorville Wiley at
the Law Enforcement
Center.
Wiley announced that
special prosecutors Bill
Wirskye and Toby Shook
will represent the state. A
visiting judge will preside.
No information was given
on who will defend the ac-
cused.
The appointments of
special prosecutors and
judge were necessary be-
cause the victims were
members of the Kaufman
DAs Office.
First assistant district at-
torney Mark Hasse was
gunned down in the Kauf-
man County employee
parking lot Jan. 31, and
DA Mike McLelland and
his wife, Cynthia, were shot
to death in their home on
March 30.

game night June 25.
They won $100, which
goes to support the fire
department. The second
place team, Sunshine
Automotive, won a $75
prize, which they
donated to the Mabank
Fire Department, as well.

Fugitives apprehended

ATHENS-Tuesday
marked the end of a long
road for two Henderson
County fugitives.
Joy Lynn Everett and
Pete Quinonez had been
on the run from law en-
forcement since April, but
finally ran out of road. Dili-
gent efforts from Sheriff
Ray Nutt’s office and Dis-
trict Attorney Scott
McKee’s office ensured
that the two would ulti-
mately give up and turn
themselves in to authori-

Vanilla Ice and Texas
Country Music songwriter
and performer Kevin
Fowler are featured in the
Saturday July 6 concert in
the park in Gun Barrel City.
The event is part of the
Gun Barrel City July Fest,
a three-day Independence
Day celebration, which
starts 5 p.m. Thursday,
July 4 with a free commu-
nity concert in the park
amphitheater. Local
churches providing per-
formers for the free con-
cert include Cedar Creek
Church of God, Christian
Life Center, Faith Family
Church Eustace, First
Baptist Church, Liberty
Baptist and Rope, Catch
and Ride for Christ.
Other activities on the
line up include a singing
contest, car show, the
Triple T Amusement Car-
nival, the Vanilla Ice con-
cert and of course, fire-
works.
Other featured concert
performers include Derek
Sholl and 12-year-old
Kadie Lynn. Pre-event
tickets are available on line
or by visiting city hall.
The bicycle parade and
show is open to children
15 years of age and under.
Kids must decorate their
bikes for the ride around
the fire department pre-
ceded by a bicycle safety
show at the park pavilion
starting at 6 p.m. Friday.
The first 50 entrants re-
ceive a free helmet. Hel-
mets for remaining entrants
will be ordered. Registra-
tion forms are found online
at www.gunbarrelcity.net.
Children and parents
will learn about bicycle
safety and be treated to
free hot dogs.
The car show is set for
the pavilion beginning at 9
a.m. with judging at 11
a.m. An awards presenta-
tion will be made at 3 p.m.
for the top 30 and best in
show, best paint and best
interior. Registration is
$20.
The first 100 vehicle en-
trants receive a free T-
shirt, dash plaque and one
free admission to the live
concert Saturday night
