fore will be anxious to see what he
has done recently. Although he spe
dalizes hi sculpture, this show will

and graphics which he has done in

BROWNWOOD — Howaid Mayne
broke open a see-saw battle late in
the first half and went on to capture
an 85-81 victory over Southwestern

The Yellow Jackets and the SW
quintet traded buckets until the
score mounted to 36-36, then the
Jackets jumped ahead on several
one-and-one free throw combinations
Southwestern cut the lead to 53-52
early in the second half, but a sud-

Coach Dees Aids
In Career's Day
Joining other educational and pro-
fessional personnel in assisting with
the recent Burnet County Junior-
Senior Career Day was Myron H.
Dees, Associate Professor of Physi-
cal Education and Coach at South-
western University.
The day’s agenda gave the juniors
and seniors in the county an over-
view of opportunities in various
fields.
A graduate of Southwestern Uni-
versity with the B.S. degree and the
University of Texas with the M. Ed.
degree, Dees has been doing grad-
uate study at the University t of
Texas. He has been on the South-
western University faculty since
1957.
Sponsored by the Burnet County
School Superintendent’s office, the
County Board of Education and the
County Counselors, the one - day
conference was held at the First
Baptist Church in Burnet.
cess. The Pikes nearly dropped the
first game to Phi Delta Theta but
finally pulled it out, came back
strong, and overwhelmed a dog-
tired Phi Delt team in the second
game. The Phi’s had beaten Kappa
Sigma earlier in the night and seem-
ed below par in the second series of
games with the Pikes,
Due to the late entry of the In-
ternational Club, the schedule was
reshuffled1 and lengthened an extra
night, forcing the MEGAPHONE to
cover the games only in this week’s
issue, although the series began
Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Perhaps the most surprising team
was Kappa Sigma. Starting rather
slowly, the Sigs showed vast im-
provement and finished a strong
third. Something should also foe
mentioned about the Internationals;
their tremendous set-ups enabled
them to provide stiff competition
and, With a little more spiking, they
might have wound up the season in
much better position than the fourth
place they nailed down. The Phi
Delts seemed to have made the
best comeback. After dropping the
first series to the Pikes they im-
proved steadily, won their remain-
ing series and carried the fight
right back to the Pikes where they
were defeated by a strong team and
fatigue.
