serving with the Army’s 11th
Armored Cavalry Regiment in
, Viet Nam, was promoted to

Garcia, a graduate of Refugio
High School enlisted in Novem- a
ber of 1965. He received his
basic training at Fort Hood in
Texas and then received fur-
ther combat training at Fort
George Meade in Maryland and
Camp Pickett in Virginia.
The 19-year-old soldier arriv-
ed in Viet Nam in September of
this year and began seeing ac-
tion late the same month. At
present his regiment is fight-
ing near the Cambodian bor-
der.

tha Rocha, also of Refugio. His
