Always Ready Bran
Muffins
1 (15 oz.) pkg. wheat bran flakes
cereal with raisins
5 c. flour
3 c. sugar
1 T plus 2 t. baking soda
2 t. salt
4 eggs, beaten
4 c. buttermilk
1 c vegetable oil
Combine cereal, flour, sugar,
soda and salt in large bowl, make
a well in center of mixture.
Add eggs, buttermilk and oil.
stir just enough to moisten dry
ingredients.
Cover and store in refrigerator
until ready to bake. (Batter can be
stored in refrigerator up to 6
weeks.)
When ready to bake, fill greased
muffin pans two thirds full
Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15
minutes. This makes about 5 dozen
muffins
Have a big jar of this muffin
batter made up in your refrigera-
tor during Christmas week You
will be surprised how hand it will
be! Christmas morning muffins,
ready to bake!

Speed Runs For Treasurer
Tricia Speed, has authorized the
Tulia Herald to announce that she
is a candidate for the office of
Swisher County Treasurer, subject
to action of the forthcoming Demo-
cratic Primary
This native Tulian is currently
the appointed Treasurer fulfilling
the term of, retired Treasurer,
Lanclle Dovel She has been em-
ployed by Swisher County for
many years, starting in 1987 work-
ing in the Justice of the Peace of-
fice and part-time for the County
Treasurer in 1992 advancing to
full-time in 1996

TAAS Tests Planned For
Those Out Of School
Individuals who are no longer en-
rolled in school and who have not
previously met minimum expecta-
tions on all sections of the T A AS test,
but have met all other graduation
requirements, may retake the neces-
sary sections of the TAAS test to be
givenFeb. 16,Writing,Feb 20.Math-
ematics, and Feb 21. Reading
The TEAMS test will no longer be
administered. Examinees Eligible for
TEAMS will take the exit level read-
ingandormathTAAS tests. TEAMS
students are not required to take the
written test TAAS scores will be
matched to the TEAMS passing stan-
dard.
Individuals who are no longer en-
rolled in a Texas public school and
who wish to register to take the exit
level TAAS test may pick up a regis-
tration packet at any lugh school cam-
pus district central office, or regional
education service center The test reg-
istration form must be completed and
returned in the pre-addressed enve-
lope and must be received in Austin,
no later than 5 p m , Jan 18,2002 A
student can register for the TAAS test
online by accessing the TEA website

The Texas Education Agency and
NCS Pearson will not be responsible
for registration forms that are delayed
