Memories
By Barbara Adair
From Meyerland

Imagine my surprise Wednesday of
last week when I opened the TEXAN
to discover that my better half had
written a column to fill the void I left
when I hastily took a reunion trip!
All things considered, this was one
more good about last wee. Going back
to Denton, Texas and seeing “girls” I
had not seen in 40 years was a real
experience. My roommate from my
sophomore and senior years was host-
ess to two of us one night. We had not
even spoken on the telephone in 40
years—wow!

The City of Beilaire will sponsor a Town Hall meeting with representa-
tives of the Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) to discuss the 1990
preliminary property valuations and to explain the appeals process. The
meeting will be held on May 14,1990 at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center at 7008
South Rice Avenue.
Property values are determined by the H. C. A. D., and the values are
used in calculating the amount of taxes that property owners pay. Prelimi-
nary property values for 1990 have just recently been mailed by HCAD to
Beilaire property owners. The Town Hall meeting will explain the method
used In determining the values and will also explain the protest process and
tips on how to prepare and present documentation at a protest bearing.
For further information on the meeting, please contact the City
Manager’s office at 662-8224 or the Tax Office at 662-8252.

Graveside services were held April
24 in Nacogdoches. My sympathy to
the family!
Right next door there was some-
thing new that arrived while I was
gone. REAGAN ROME had received
a bicycle. She got this beautiful two
wheeler from one of those breakfast
cereal giveaways.
Last month included St. Patrick’s
Day and we gained some new children
and grandchildren of the area resi-
dents.
The WALTER C. O'CONNELL
family had included a PATRICK. The
homestead is in the 5400 block of
Ariel, just west of Meyerland.
In the same block there has been jn
addition to the family of Rudolph
Lange. This is reported to be a First boy
who arrived April 17 and if I under-
stood the name it is GRANT AUSTIN
LANGE. Congratulations to both
families in the birth of these babies.
By now I assume LETI'lfc TYLER
is safely home from her trip overseas.
TIM is reportedly in Vienna and ANN
I believe is in London where MATT
JORDAN is a Lt. Commander. Hope I
remember the details correctly and
that the trip was as great as expected. I
feel sure Leltie will gladly give you the
correct details.
We will be gaining new neighbors at
5130 Loch Lomond soon.
This means we lost some nice folks
too. GERARD and CARRIE VEN-
TURA departed a couple of months
ago to Nacogdoches, Texas with their
son and have turned over title to an-
other young couple.
STUART WEIL and JANE will
soon be residing there after leaving
Cincinnati, Ohio. Actually, Stuart is a
former Meyerlander coming home and
Jane is a product of another part of
Houston. Hope she will like Meyer-
land as much as I do.
We have bunches more of new
Meyerlanders but 1 haven’t taken time
to get the info...may be next week.
