Fpr Coughs—Take Xhis
Do you know a remedy for coughs and colds nearly seventy
-years old? There is one—Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral. Once
in the family, it stays. It is not a doctor, does not take
the place of doctor. It is a doctor’s aid. Made for
the treatment of all throat and lung troubles. Ask
your own doctor his opinion of it. Follow his advice.
No alcohol in this cough medicine. j.c.AyerCo.,LmcellMas^

PROF. SYLER DEAD.
At the Age of 75 Years—Well Known
in Orange. <
/
From Monday's Daily.
Prof. J. F. Syler died ip Newton
Sunday morning, at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. B. A. Swinney, at
the age of 75 years. Prof. Syler has
been in Southeast Texas’ for a num-
ber of years. He was principal of
tjte Burkville school a number of
years, and, resigning, engaged in thg
river, 40 to 60 feet deep .it all seasons
of the year; with deep water through
Sabine Pass and deeper water right
at our wharves on Front street. Or-
ange already has theadvantage of near
competitors; but with deep water in
the ship canal, there would be still
greater advantage to Orange. Here
would be the greatest. lumber export
business in the South and the ships
going out with lumber cannot afford
to return empty; «, the rf"* car-
goes of fruits, coffee, rubber and
hardwoods, - would make this an im-
portant port for entry of those goods.
With cheap fuel, a splendid river,
and the extensive pine lumber mills,
and the hardwood import* from Mex-
ico and South America, there is no
reason Why Orange should not beA
come a great manufacturing center
for wagons, buggies and high class
furniture.
A few day* ago there came a smash
as black a* Oliver’s previous fortune*
at Climax had been bright. He was
arrested, charged with swindling the
people of Climax out of many thous-
and dollars, hi* bride filed suit for
divorce and one of hi* employees in
the Climax bank was threatened with
lynching, after Oliver had been placed
in jail here. News of the arrest at-
tracted the attention of the Mississip-
pi authorities and Sheriff Jones was
sent here.
