Mr. McClary’s Lecture.
With a flood of the sunshine
oHife and a world of whole-
some fun, Mr. Thomas McClary
went straight to the heart of his
audience-*at the opera house,
last night. ‘‘The innerside of the
darkest cloud is always bright
and shining; so turu the dark
side inside out, and always wear
the lining." This is the view
McClary wishes us to take ot
lite, and, although perhaps not I
his exact words, this little
rhyme fully expresses what he
wishes to teach in his lecture.
With a homely but kindly tace,
and a humorous manner, he is
the fit person to tell us of tbfe
"Missionof Mirth.” His lecture
abounds in bright and witty
sayings, and be touches a chord
in the audience that keeps his
hearers in tune with his mirth.

Thechief opening for criticism

the increase. The town has been
posted with a fine lot of show
papers, and the hats of most of
the men about town bear the
invitation to "meet me there,
January 24.” The show poster
across the street from the Gate
City Drug store, showing the
street parade, has been the ob-
ject of soaae amuslng comment.
Some people seem to think the
horses in the leading trade m
are stepping along too fast for
the band. But a number ot the
minstrel company explained it
all by saying they were "just
prancing and stepping high.”
The portraits of several promin
ent young business men ot Or-
ange, painted in full minstrel
regalia, are displayed in differ-
ent show windows. These add
no little to the general Interest.
The first tnll rehearsal will be
held in the opera house tonight,
promptly at 7:15 sharp. The fulh
program will be gone over, and
every member must be preseqt.
The performance will very
probably be repeated at Port
