Surf fishin'
These three anglers were
among the surf fisherfolk in
Port Aransas on Tuesday, Oct.
16. They chose a spot south
of Access Road 1 where the
waves were gently breaking
on the shore. The girl in the
middle had just caught what
looked like a sand trout, a
great eating fish if one catches
enough of them.
Restaurants ready to serve
at Fall Back Festival Oct. 27
I lirce restaurants have commit-
ted to participate in the seventh
annual Fall Back Festival on Satur-
day, Oct. 27.
So far, Beeman’s, Crazy Cajun and
Pelican’s Landing have agreed to
serve samples of their food at the
event that benefits the Port Aransas
Community Theatre (PACT). Other
restaurants that have participated in
the past have been contacted, but at
press time had not confirmed their
participation.
I he festival will be held along the
boardwalks and in the La Playa area
of the Port A USA center anchored
by Pelican’s Landing Restaurant.
A celebration of the end of Daylight
Savings Time when clocks “fall back”
an hour, the festival will, in addition
to the food, feature several blues hands,
a wine tasting, Halloween Costume
Contest and a Chinese auction.
Featured groups will be Corey
Jackson and Blue VooDoo, Dave
Miller and Kingfish, Carl Lewis and
the Deadbeats, Gregg Gibbs and the
Blues Operators. The musicians will
appear for an hour each in the or-
der listed from 6 to 10 p.m. Special
guests will be Drywall Dave
Schlabach and Dicky Neely on har-
monicas.
Three t iers of tickets, available on
site, will be offered. A $ 10 ticket buys
admission to the music portion of
the festival; a $20 ticket includes the
food, wine and music; and a $30
ticket includes a festival t-shirt plus
the food, wine and music. T-shirts
will be sold separately for $12 each.
Betty Crawford, a PACT volun-
teer, urges everyone to “dust off your
witch’s costume or put on your
thinking cap and create a new per-
sona” for the costume contest. Prizes
will be awarded to winners.
Merchants are being called upon
by PACT volunteers to contribute
goods and services to the Chinese
auction, Crawford said. Merchants
who would like to donate and have
not been contacted may call
Crawford at 749-6674.
