Grad day nears
Over 2,000 students
will graduate this month
from five southwest
Houston public schools.
The first southwest
Houston high school to
hold graduation ceremo-
nies this year will be
Lamar Hign School.
Ceremonies will be
held on Sunday, May 18,
2 p.m. at the Astro-
Arena. About 400
students will be grad-
uating.
Lee High School
ceremonies will be held
later that day at 5 p.m.,
also in the Astro-Arena.
About S00 students will
graduate.
Bellaire High School
ceremonies will be held
next on May 18. 8 p.m.
at the Astro-Arena.
About 540 students will
graduate.
On May 22, Sharps-
town High School will
graduate about 475
students at 8 p.m. at the
Coliseum.
Westbury High
School will graduate
about 450 students on
Sunday, May 25, 5 p.m.
in the Coliseum.
Students from the
High School for the
Performing and Visual
Arts will graduate on
Thursdav lime 5, 7:30
p.m. at the Congrega-
tion Beth Israel. About
138 students will
graduate.
May honors ‘older Americans’
Bellaire Mayor Sam
McKinney proclaimed
May Older American’s
month to coincide with
the national proclama-
tion by the U.S. Depart-
ment of Health and
Human Services Ad-
ministration on Aging.
Locally, the city of
Bellaire will celebrate on
May 22, 2-4 p.m. at
Bellaire Civic Center.
The theme for the
May celebration is
“Plan on Living the Rest
of Your Life’’ with a
special focus on com-
munication and health.

present “The Art of

our communication
skills.
