Hits were scarce as the Hondo
Owls edged the St. Louis High
Comets of Castroville 2-1 here
Wednesday afternoon. Hon d <>
went for four hitless innings be-
fore connecting and ended up
with three singles and a double;
the Comets collected only five
hits from three Owl pitchers.
Hopdo pushed across the win-
ning run in the last of the seventh
inning. The Comets suffered a
bail break when Ivaughinghouse’-
hard grounder got through
B. Tsohirhart’s legs, but Jung-
man struck out Schweers for the
second out. Heiligman got hifc
•second hit of the evening — a
double — and Bud Woolls beat
out an infield hit to send the win-
ning run in from third.
St. Louts bunched a pair of
hits in the second as Keller drove
in Jungman. The Owls tied the-
score in the third as Heiligman
scored from third when Wilbur
Bohmfalk wafi trapped between
first and second on a steal. Both
men were on base with walks.
A squeeze play in the last of
the seventh produced the winning
run as the Hondo Owls defeated
Eagle Pass 4-3 Friday afternoon
Hilmer Mueller laid down a per-
fect bunt and Roy Meyer, leaving
third with the pitch, crossed hpme
plate before the ball could be
fielded.
Hondo took an early lead in the
game, 2-6, as Mueller’s single
scored Woolls and Bohmfalk, but
the Eagles came back for three
runs in the fourth to go ahead.
The Owls tied the score in the
fifth as Mueller singled, went to
second as R. Rosales fumbled the
ball in center field, and scored on
Carlos Herrera’s base hit.
The Owls played a good gtune
afield, completing,^ ,|wo double
plays, I^aughinghouse to Meyer to
Laughinghouse, and Larkin to
Meyer to Laughinghouse, and re-
tired five men at second after
they had reached base safely.
Eagle Pass made one double play
