Daylight hours are receding
as the calendar creeps closer
to the first day of the fall se-
mester. You’re scrambling
around on Amazon and Chegg
to find the best deals on text-
books and Mean Green fanat-
ics are counting down the days
until the first football game of
the season. While you pre-
pare for another, or your first,
semester at UNT, we want to
take you back, back to a time
when Denton was transform-
ing from a one-horse town to
the music vomiting, hipster-
ridden city it is today. Last
summer, we chronicled the
history of Denton, but this
issue discusses the evolu-
tion and the people who wit-
nessed it. For a city bursting
at the
seams
with
pride,
it’s im-
portant
to know
the path it endured through-
out the years. For someone
who’s been here for almost
seven years, it’s incredible to
see how much the city and
university have grown in such
a short time. Unfortunately,
my path continues past Den-
ton city limits, and I must part
ways with its rich culture and
large times. The torch is now
in the hands of those eager
to begin their journey be-
tween Bonnie Brae and Welch
Streets. Keep this city and
UNT growing toward a bigger
blip on the radar and go Mean
Green!
