Aggie club donates to West
The Wharton County A&M Club held its annual muster on April 21. Jackie Sherrill spoke and the club raised more than $20,000 for scholar-
ships. It was decided at the meeting that 10 percent of the proceeds go to the victims of West explosion. It was then decided to donate to
the West Volunteer Fire Department because of the damage they had and lives lost. The amount totaled $2,206.50. Members of the club
pictured are, from left, Staci Claxton, Landon McClain, Kaydi Kacer, Gus Mullins, Irene Mullins, Debbi Dimmick, C.C. Jaynes-Thompkins and
Landynn Thompkins.

Top collectors of box tops
Every year Sivells Elementary School collects box tops from its students. Some proceeds have been used for semester and end of year awards
for students and other educational needs. Box tops can be found on a variety of grocery items and each one is worth 10 cents. For every
10 box tops a student brings in, his or her name is put into a drawing for a prize each month. A bulletin board is displayed each month so
the students can see whose class and whose grade is bringing in the most box tops. Winning classes of each grade earn a reward of their
teacher's choice. For this school year, the three students who brought in the most box tops for Sivells Elementary School are first graders
Ryleigh Cox with 490 box tops and Cailey Kutach with 410 box tops. Kindergartener Mason Hooper collected 440 boxtops. To date 11,354
box tops have been collected for the school year.
