Livingston Police Sgt. Scott Paske will undergo
surgery for kidney cancer surgery this month. Paske
was involved in a car crash while responding to a
call that caused back injuries and a broken hip in
1997 while working with the Polk County Sheriff
Department. An MRI for surgery to further treat
those injuries led doctors to find kidney cancer.
Below, the county vehicle involved in the car crash
in 1997. Paske, the driver of the other vehicle and
a child passenger in the other vehicle were all
transported to Houston for treatment.
Benefit luncheon for
Sgt. Paske Saturday
'T’he Livingston Police
A force along with
other area law enforcement,
family and friends are
rallying around Livingston
Police Officer Sgt. Scott
Paske Saturday for a benefit
luncheon from 11 a.m. to 4
p.m. at the Livingston VFW
hall on Hwy. 59.
Sgt. Paske was injured
in a line-of-duty accident
in December 1997 while
working as a deputy sheriff
when a pickup pulled in front
of him from a private drive.
The patrol car Paske was
driving hit the truck and all
three individuals involved
in the crash were flown to
Houston for treatment.
Paske suffered a broken
hip and back injuries from
the incident. Doctors found
kidney cancer this year
during tests necessary for an
additional surgery as a result
of the car crash.
The kidney surgery is
planned the end of June.
Proceeds front the luncheon
will offset expenses related
to Paske’s illness and time off
from work.
Volunteers will be serving
barbecue and fish dinners and
a silent auction is planned.
Meal and raffle tickets are
available by calling 936-433-
9350 or 936-328-2955.
