“Pete” Gray was bom April
22,1925 in a togging camp
just cm the outskirts of Con-
roe. The Gray family later
moved to Huntsville, where
he attended Sam Houston
University.
Mr. Gray served in the U.S.
Navy from 1944 to 1946, and
he was a member of The Ma-
sons Society. The family then
moved to Texas City, where
he worked for 35 years for
Union Carbide.
Mr. Gray died at his resi-
dence in Goodrich on Sunday,
July 8,2012, at the age of 87,
after a tong illness. He was a
member of United Methodist
Church of Goodrich.
Mr. Gray was preceded in
death by his father, Ben G.
“Pappy” Gray; his mother,
Myrtie Ola Gray; two sis-
ters, Ruth Bell and Mildred
Graves; his adoring wife,
Elizabeth “Betty” Gray and
his beloved daughter, Laura
Jean.
Survivors include his broth-
