nominees. )Me need the community to
nominate those deserving individuals,
who ftave made positive, life-altering
investments in Polk County; those who
can always be depended upon to give
their time and talents for the benefit of
their community; the individual who
serves drove and beyond the call of
duty, whose life is a testament to doing
the “right thing”. This person may
or may not have accomplished great
things in his or her lifetime by worldly
standards but more importantly shows
all of humanity how to lead a successful
life and still keep their priorities in the

When you spend $100 at an I
independent business, $68 returns
to the local community. Spend that
same amount at a national chain and |
it drops to $43.
Locally owned businesses reinvest in I
the local economy at a 60% higher |
rate than chains and internet retailers.
Small businesses account for 75% of |
all new jobs.
According to the Independent Wei
Stand calculator. If every family in
the Houston metro area spent just
$10 a month with a locally-owned,
independent business instead of a
national chain, over $163,561,243* I
would be directly returned to the
Houston community. That means
