Marion McBryde
Funeral services for Marion
Aline lies McBryde, 82, of
Silsbee will be 1 p.m. Friday,
March 15,2013 at Farmer Fu-
neral Home with interment
following in Resthaven Ceme-
tery. Visitation will begin at 5
p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home.
Mrs. McBryde died March
11,2013 at Christus St. Eliza-
beth Hospital in Beaumont.
Aline was preceded in death
by her husband, Horace
McBryde, father George Ross
lies, mother Myrtle Morrison
lies, sister Annie Maxine
Read, brother George Ross
lies Jr., niece Linda Anne
Windham and step-son Ken-
neth McBryde.
She is survived by her great
niece and nephew, Jennifer St.
Cyr and husband Winston and
Chris Windham and wife Pa-
tricia; grandson Jason
McBryde; step-son David
McBryde and wife Diane;
great grandson Ethan
McBryde; nieces and
nephews, Edwin Read,
George lies, David lies, Becky
lies and Diane lies along with
numerous other great nieces
and nephews and great, great
nieces and nephews.
Aline never gave birth to
any children, yet she was a
mother to many. Her door
was always open during good
times and bad times, with no
questions asked. She pro-
vided the comfort and stabil-
ity that her family and friends
needed to pull through each of
their life's crisis. The greatest
of these bonds were with her
niece and nephew, Jennifer
and Chris Windham for whom
she guided with much love
and care. She will be missed
but her legacy of kindness and
strength will live forever in
the hearts of her family and
friends.
A native of Merryville LA,
Aline was a long time resident
of Silsbee. She was bom as
the Great Depression started
and was a teen through WWII.
She never accumulated mon-
etary wealth, but never real-
ized it because her treasure
was her family and friends.
She was married twice to
Horace. After they were mar-
ried, Horace served in the
Navy and separation ended
the marriage. When Horace
retired from the Navy, they re-
married.
Aline worked for Cravens
Insurance for 30 years and
was voted "1969-1970
Woman of the Year" by the
Chamber of Commerce.
After working for many
years as an office profes-
sional, Aline enjoyed her new
role as the wife of a retired
Navy man working for NASA
at its peak. She also enjoyed
new friends, fishing, camping
and gardening and her one
woman pet dog, Andy.
She had a special way of
using her unique sense of
humor to lessen tension and
get her point across. She per-
sonified the teachings of
Christ in so many ways. She
was accepting of everyone.
She gave of herself. She em-
bodied the spirit and deeds of
Matthew 25:35-40, helping
others in need. She will be
missed, but her examples of
how to live life will remain
with us forever. "Don't be sad.
Remember the good times."

ing that it pushed the Muslim
faith. Others were concerned
with the curriculum as a whole
because it has ties to known
communists, one parent stated.
On the other side of the issue,
were supporters who spoke of
the need to educate our students
on other cultures across the
world.
Local resident James White-
ley stated that as a parent of
three Lumberton graduates, he
was proud of the school and
what they were doing. Whiteley
stated he received a call from
his son, who is a graduate of
Westpoint and has served in ac-
tive duty, regarding the issue.
"My son stated that he
wished LISD had the curricu-
lum when he was attending,"
Whitely said. "Had he have
been educated on Islam culture,
and the ways of a culture a
world away, he wouldn't have
been as shocked once he arrived
in Iraq."
Whitely ended his speech by
asking everyone to put the bick-
ering aside and work as a team
with a united goal, "Let us
come and reason together."
LHS student Zack Kalles, ap-
proached the board and had
praise for the district. Kalles
stated that as a student of LHS,
he feels that the district and
schools are performing well and
that it was unfortunate that the
issue had gotten so blown out of
proportion.
Kalles also stated that he was
in the class and knew that no
student was forced to wear the
burqas and the World Geogra-
phy class was simply studying
diverse cultures.
Other issues stemming from
the incident were also brought
to the forefront by parents of
students who felt their children
were bullied and intimidated
into signing an incident report
without their parent's presence.
“CSCOPE is a curriculum
that was adopted by the district
recently and is only in it's sec-
ond year," Valastro stated at the
board meeting. "As with any
new endeavor, the board and its
educators are taking all meas-
ures to ensure that the curricu-
lum is good for the students and
does not leave them with any ill
effects. The CSCOPE curricu-
From Section 1, Page 1
lum is used by teachers as a
'timeline and guideline' to ac-
cess the Texas Essential Knowl-
edge and Skills (TEKS) and
educators are able to customize
it to fit each lesson."
Board member James Glenn
also ensured parents concerned
about the bullying issues that
may have taken place as a result
of the incident that all matters
have been properly documented
and will not be "swept under
the rug." Glenn stated that each
and every matter would be
tended to with the student's best
interest at heart.
Valastro ended the forum
making a public apology for
any detrimental effects felt by
the actions of the district. He
ended by stating that it's time
to get back to the task of edu-
cating our students and prepar-
ing them for the future and
apologized if any hurt was felt.
"We are all in this together .
We are on your side."
The board will continue to
evaluate CSCOPE and work
with parents and students to-
wards a resolution.

tion, are allowed to drive the
trucks to their homes. Trucks
are not allowed to park in road-
ways.
Some truckers have gone for-
ward to city council during
workshops to express their feel-
ings on the issue.
On Monday, another work-
shop will be held prior to the
regular scheduled council meet-
ing, which is set to begin at 6
p.m. No word as of press time
on when the workshop will
begin.
City Manager Tommy Bar-
tosh spoke with engineers on
the affect of trucks on roadways
in residential areas.
“Many of the roads in Silsbee
do not have any of the rock base
to speak of,” Bartosh read in a

statement from engineers at its
last meeting. “Many of the
roads are just sand bases, cov-
ered with oil and then topped
with asphalt. These roads will
not hold up long under pro-
longed use of heavy vehicles.”
Mayor Herbert Muckleroy
advised that a decision would
be made for the best of the com-
munity as a whole.
