a lot in order to play a good game.
Westerner-Bulldog Clash
To Be In Plainview Tomorrow
The Westerners depart tomorrow morning to engage the Plainview Bull-
dogs at Plainview. This will complete the Westerners’ football schedule
for 1943.
The Westerners, recuperating from a 47 to 0 drubbing by the Amarillo
Sandies, will be seeking a win to assure them second place in the district
race. The Bulldogs are also looking for victory to complete their season.
The Lubbock anld Plainview boys stand about even in records.
The Plainview eleven compared to -----
Jim Joe Rieger, co-captain and
right-wing man, will be back in
the harness. Jim Strawn, the
other co-captain, was not out
last week, but we sure hope he
wtll be in there tomorrow.
The Plainview Bulldogs outweigh
the Westerners' two pounds per man,
so you see it is not going to be any
push over.

class played football with the
diversified education class last
Sunday afternoon. The score
was D. E., 12 and D. 0., 6. It

S'an Angelo defeated Plainview 25 to
0, while they defeated Lubbock 40 to
0. Amariilo defeated the Bulldogs
33 to 6, and then won over the Wes-
terners 57 to 0, so you see, on those
two games Plainview comes out on
top. But on the other hand, Lub-
bock defeated Pampa 12 to 0, while
the Harvesters defeated the Bull-
the Black and Gold of Lubbock High
tomorrow. They are Jim Strawn,
Jim Joe Rieger, Gene Gray, Homer
Lawson, Johnny Davis, Beuron Lidn_

Don’t forget that pep rally to-
day at 3:15 o’clock. This is the
last pep rally of the year; so let’s
all turn out to cheer the Wes-

Coaches Are Behind
Westerners In Game
Behind the Westerners in all the
games, directing them and urging
them on are the three coaches, Mr.
J. “Mule” Davis, head coach; Mr.
Dixie White, assistant coach; and
Mr. Howard Price, coach of the
Cowhands.
In) 1917 Coach Davis played end on
the' Texas A. and M. team which
was undefeated and unscored on. In
1919 when he played both end and
tackle, the team was again unde-
feated. Coach Davis came to Lub-,
bock High school as a coach in
1924. Resigning in 1926, he went
into the . construction business for
several years. He returned to Jun-
