Jefferson can not be called slow
when it comes to taking up a good
proposition for a new State Bank
with 525000 capital had all the
stock taken in less than a day
and more wanted to subscribe than
was called for The promoters are
Messrs J B Hussey and M J Whe
lan both gentlemen of large inter-
ests and good business judgment
Mr Hussey is now president of the
Commercial national bank of this
city Mr Whelan a swift busi-
ness man secured all the stock sub-
scriptions Thursday A charter
will be applied for at once and the
new bank will be opened for busi-
ness as soon as a building can be
erected for it Hussey Whelen
are preparing to build a large one
story brick on their property cor

son for a State bank and much

the title role of Harold McGraths
famous novel of that name The
scenic equipment that is being car-

that Mr Henry E Dixey used du-
ring his run of over two hundred
nights al tbe famous old Madison
Square Theatre in New York City
and played every principal city in
the United States Every detail
has been carefully inspected by
Mr Walter N Lawrence who guar-
antees this company to equal the
original and in some instance to
surpass it Lionel Lawfence the
stage manager of tbe New York
Theatre for many years was
especially brought on to produce

Death of Geo W Thomas
The death of Geo WThomas oc-
curred at his home 12 > mileS3 > east
of the city Saturday morning at
530 March 11 1911 after a lin-
gering illness aged 75 years Mr
Thomas was one of the counties
best citizens and well liked by
every ona He came to Texas
from bis native state Alabama
about 45 years ago and has lived
nearly all that time athis present
home place He leaves three

The Jimplecute joins with many
friends in sympathy to the be-
reaved children
The body was broug jt to Jeffer-
son Sunday morning for burial in
the famiiy lot in Oakwood ceme-
tery at 11 oclock the maBons con-
ducting the services of their de-
ceased brother
