BAPTISTS OF IHE NORTH
Gathering In Chicago For Convention
Between Three and Four Thou-
sand Delegates Expected
Herald Special
Chicago May 5 The intellect and
the power of the Baptist church in
the north are concentrated in Chicago
today On every train distinguished
clergymen and influential laymen from
many states have been pouring into
the city until even the hotel corri-
dors for once in their history might
be mistaken for the vestibules of
churches so numerous thereabout are
men of clerical mien
The occasion of this great gathering
of the leaders of the Baptist denomi
nation is the Northern Baptist conven-
tion which is to assemble tomorrow
for a weeks session The convention
will hold its meetings in the Bartlett
gymnasium at the University of Chi-
cago and the presiding officer will be
Dr Harry Pratt Judson president of
the University Between three and
four thousand delegates and as many
more visitors are expected to attend
No fixed program has been ar
ranged for the convention but all the
church work which includes the three
great organizations of the Baptist
church the American Baptist Foreign
Missionary Society the American Bap-
tist Home Missionary Society and the
American Baptist Publication Society
will be reviewed These three large
societies organized for worldwide
mission work and for publication in
terests handle large sums of money
annually and control operations of
wide proportions
For many years these several so-
cieties held their own annual sessions
making their own reports to them-
selves Four years ago it was decided
to organize one great convention of
the Northern Baptists to include the
thousands of churches throughout the
country The initial meeting was
held lnWashington D C and Gover
nor Hughes of New York was honored

To the reads of the Herald The
Giroux Mfg Co American makers of
Parisian Sage wisli to state that they
do not guarantee Parisian Sage to
grow hair on bald heads because in-
most cases the hair root is dead In
the case of Mr Aimstiong the hail
root was not dead and knowing as
we do the astonishing hair growing
virtue of Parisian Sage we see no
season why it should not grow hail
on the head of Mr Armstrong
But we do guarantee Parisian Sage
and so does Bratton Drug Co to
