Waco will hold her ninth annual
chrysanthemum show Nov 9 to

be of state wide importance and
attracts big crowds
It is gencralrj conceded that
one of the best ways to destroy
the boll weevil is to burn tho cot-
ton stalks and stubble in the fields
as early in the fall as possible
Anderson county farmers should
be engaged in this work now
A Kansas man had a cow who
chewed off a roosters tail and
the next day when he milked her
she gave a gallon and a half of the
finest kind of cocktail We had a
cow ourselves once who swallowed
an almanac and gave creamed
dates Ex
Perhaps Russia has gently
twisted the lions tail with the
hope of having an excuse to hol-
ler enough No doubt she is
anxious to get out of a most awk-
ward fix in any old way she can
without acknowledging herself
whipped by plucky little Japan
The Louisiana crop pest coin
mission shows remarkable gall
in recommending that Texas go
out of the cotton business for a
few 3ears That commission like
the Missourians needs to he
brought over and shown Wiry this
old world could not get along with-

runs into the millions of bales de-

The Mexican government has
decreed that no more double
headed matches arc to be manu-

rible foreigners have invaded the

trations andreading matter suited

blc headed match If a friend
extends 3011 the courtesj of a
match 3ou return to him the un-
used end and if you throw it
down you arc guilty of a breach
of courtesy Foreigners often
thoughtlessly offended the Mexi-
cans in this wnj
In Georgia they have raised
the curious question whether a
man applying for a license to
marry should give a bond of S50
with two sureties guaranteeing
his ability to provide for a
wife for one year There is an
old dead letter law to this effect
on the statutes of the state and as
late as 1850 such a law was en
forced in Richmond county The
interesting question says the
Augusta Chronicle now is was
this law repealed There arc those
who think not Others believe it
was repealed To satisfy their
curiosity attorneys of the city arc
endeavoring to find out tho truth
If not repealed it is still a law al
though in disuse for over half a
century Ex

Mr Cyclone Davis tho prohibi-
tion orator advocating the state and
national prohibition ticket blow into
tho city last night about S oclock on a
delayed train from the north and blew
out again about 10 but in those short
two hours he made a rousing speech to
about three hundred people at the
tabernacle
Davis is full of his subject and ho
held tho closest attention of his audi-
ence which was composed of both la-
dies and gentlomen His arraignment
of the saloon and tho whisky traffic
was a fearful indictment and ho eulo-
gized tho prohibition nominees in
glowing terms
Those present enjoyed tho speech
and from the enthusiasm shown there
were present a great many who were
in happy accord with tho speaker
Mr H V Prather presided as chair-
man of the meeting
PERILS OF LAND AND SEA
Captain Willnefs Remarkable Es
cape Shqws What to do in
Time of Trouble
For many years Captain Willnef
says the Times of Gloucester Mass
wos one of tho best known seamen in
the Gloucester ileet Tho sea and Us
dangers had no terror for him but tho
catarrhal troubles with which he suf-
fered for fifteen years made him dread
the nigiits at sea for he had to walk
the cabin iloor being unable to lie
down and sleep on account of tho con
stant catarrhal dropping
Captain Willnef went to two differ
ent hospitals for treatment but could
get no lasting benefit Ho constantly
raisod yellow and green phlegm and
his trouble became so unbearable and
nauseating that be was ashamed to go
out in company When despairing of
over getting relief his wife purchased
a Hyomei outfit for him and trying it
before going to bed he enjoyed tho
first whole nights sleep for ten years
Captain Willnef says I havo used
less than two bottles of Hyomei and
have been cured by tho remedy My
friends ask mo what is responsible for
my improvement and I tell them Hy
omei which has given mo full and
complete recovery
Captain Willnefs experience shows
our readers what to do in time of
catarrhal trouble use Hyomei This
remarkable treatment kills tho germs
of catarrh and makes lasting and per
manent cures Bratton Drag Co sell
Hyomei under tholr personal guaran
