GILA MONSTERS
ACCOUNTED FOR
Palestine Citizen Says the Street
Carnival Co Thought Them
Dead and Dumped Them
A citizen called at tio Herald ofllco
yesterday and said he could explain
how the Gila Monsters recently killed
and captured here made thoir appear-
ance He S3ys the stroot carnival
here last fall had a number of them in
a glass cage and they apparently died
while the show was in tho city Some
small boys his son being one of them
wore hired to carry them off and they
were dumped in tho gully near the oil
mill It is quite evident now they
were not dead but as is the habit of
reptiles in general they had gone into
winter quarters hibernating As
there have been found some young
ones it seems they waked up with tho
first breath of spring and havo been
busy multiplying themselves since and
thoro is no tolling iust how many of
the poisonous reptiles are looso over
tho town
