7 Must be a white person
8 Must be a Democrat
9 Must agree to support Democrat-
ic nominees local state and national
10 If voter after paying poll tax
moves to another county or another
ireclnct he must present poll tax re-
ceipt and make affidavit that he is
the person described therein etc
In cities of 10000 inhabitants or
ore in addition
11 Must present poll tax receipt

fected the organization of a Tom
Campbell Club last Saturday Prac-
tically all the voters at this precinct
have joined the club and are enthu-
siastic supporters of Col Campbell

dear Herald I will try and give the
news of this little community
Health is very good excepting a
few cases of chills and fevers Winnie
Huffman daughter of Mr L J Huff-
man has been on the sick list for the
past week but is now reported belter
On the 17th of Juno Mr Ji R Cal
loway was bitten by a dog Ho is
now in Austin at the Pasteur Institute
and Is getting along nicely
Crops are all needing rain very bad-
ly We got a small shower this eve-
ning Hope we will get a good rain
before It quits There are some signs
of the boll weevil here but I dont see
how they can live in the cotton
patches for It has been so warm the
past three weeks

Sensation Sprung In the Mark Rice
Murder Case at Waco
Waco Texas June 26 A sensa-
tion was sprung this morning In the
trial of Mark Rice charged with the
murder of Luther Phelan
Audrey Prather a witness who two
days ago testified that he was present
and saw the shooting his testimony
being favorable to the defendant went
on the stand and recanted completely
saying his conscience drove him to It
as the statements he formerly made
were false and that he was not even
present and knew nothing of the mur-
der until he heard of It
He said he was hired to swear false-
ly by his brother Ed Prather the
leading witness for the defense who
had promised him 50 to do this
He said further that he had been
furnished a typewritten copy of the
evidence to which he was to swear
and which he was requested to mem-
orize
Audrey Prathers wife substantiated
his statements as to not being present
The court house has been packed
for several days there being great in-
terest in the case

35 years old living near Edge Brazos
county yesterday shot and killed him-
self with alleged suicidal intent His
wife died several years ago and he
leaves three children No cause for
the act is assigned but it Is believed
to be despondency
Hanged Himself In Jail
Corslcana Texas June 26 Dick
Oliver a white man arrested last Sat-
urday at his home near Chatfield and
jailed here on a charge of burglary
hanged himself In jail last night He
leaves a wife and three children
Farmer Kills Himself
Weimar Texas June 26 Sunday
morning about 10 oclock Mr Joseph
Haase a fairly welltodo fanner liv-
ing about six miles east of here being
in a somewhat despondent mood com-
mitted suicide by taking strychnine
