PALESTINE DEATHS
Hon A W Ewing
Hon A V Ewing died at his home
on South Sycamore street this morn
ing at six oclock He had been sick
for some time critically sick and his
death while not coming as a surprise
was none the less a shock to the en-
tire community Mr Ewing was
stricken with a form of paralysis
while out making speeches in behalf
of his friend and neighbor Hon T M
Campbell in his campaign for the
Democratic nomination for governor
He partially recovered from this at-
tack however and was able to be on
the street and in his office but an-
other attack soon followed and the
last attack proved too much for his
constitution
YVIlce Ewing as he was lovingly
known by his friends and all who
knew him were his friends was In
many ways a lovable character He
spent his entire life among this peo
ple and knew his neighbors intimate
ly He was the son of the late and
lamented James Ewing a pioneer
Texan and a nester of the Eastern
Texas press Mr Ewing followed in
the way of his father and for many
years edited the Weekly Advocate
later giving up newspaper work for
the law But Mr Ewlngs chief charm
and ability was as a public speaker
and lie had few equals In Texas or in
the country He was beside a good
neighbor and friend a family man in
the truest sense No man posalhlj
was ever more devoted to his family
and he worshipped his children a
golden haired girl and pretty baby
It was his custom in the late of the
evening when the worries of the day
