FOR YOUR HEALTHS SAKE
GET YCUR OXYGEN
It Is of the utmost importance
that human beings have an abun-
dance of oxygen at all times This
means day and night summer and
winter It is scarcely necessary
to give this sort of advice for
the summer season but when
the weather gets cold many peo-
ple are afraid of cold air and oth-
ers think it Is a waste of fuel to
heat fresh cold air so they keep
it out
This Is poor economy to say
the least In fact it costs more
as a rule that is if you figure
your health and earning capacity
as having any monetary value

UNEXCELLED ROAD MATERIAL
During the discussion pi the propo-
sition to isMie bonds for road building
which proposition unfortunately was
thwarted very much was said about
proper material for road building not
being available because of the cost
of transportation etc There is in a
radius of two miles of this city ma-
terial enough to build a hundred
miles of good road and it is material
that would be excellent for the work
The Herald believes road experts
would say so were they to examine
it And that material is the red
gravelly soil so common in certain
localities especially to the southeast
and near this city This soil Is com-
mon along the Crockett road for a
considerable distance and is distrib
uted for miles in that section Take
the roads that lead through it and
you will find them as haid as ma
cadem They never get dusty and
soft in dry weather and in places
they are never muddy Go out this
road designated and just after climb
in g the hill beyond the bridge and
just before you reach the old lowers
place turn to the left Examine this
road that leads off into an easterly
direction and you will find as firm
piece of road as you ever traveled

graded and properly drained and
then coated with this soil would be
as good as any in the state and the
expense of construction would not be
great
The sidewalk building movement
moves serenely ahead
Palestine never booms hut just
builds quietly ahead all the time
Many pretty homes show for the pro-
gress of the past few months
This section did not get the much
desired rain but neither was it hit
in the head with hail stones weighing
from ten to twelve pounds as was a
section of South Texas
The Nacogdoches Sentinel makes a
plea for an East Texas press associa
tion Such an organization could be
made of value to this section Such
an organization was in existence a
few years ago but somehow did not
piove very popular
The critics of the Texas laws are
very slow to point out the hurtful
laws They make a great noise in a
general way but do not specify Tex-
as laws aie above the average and
all of this hurrah abput hurting out-
side capital is a myth
A car load of babies has just been
received in Houston from New York
to be distributed to families who
have no children Texas is the great-
est missionary field in the world It
can take care of not only its own
children but has homes for many
others
The second installment of the right
of way subscription money for the
Stateraijroad has been called forj
the Board of Trade The road must
have a clear title to a right of way in
the city before it can come through
and it takes the money to get the
Tight of way
If every housekeeper and ownei
will look after his or her own prem-
ises it will not be very hard to keep
this town clean and healthy The
sanitary officers have oiders to see
that the city is kept clean and those
who will not keep clean premises may-
be forced to do so
Anderson county should spend
money and time this year advei Using
the advantages of her soil and climate
to the man seeking a new home This
county needs five hundred new fam-
ilies People are coming in but the
movement is too slow We are losing
money while the people who are stay-
ing away are losing opportunities
