Only in the congressman at

along with the state, and then
only half way. Rockdale's two
boxes combined showed a majority
for Pool over Bean, but the vot-
ers in box 15, cast Rockdale,
favored Bean.
In the voting for associate jus-

district, Rockdale voters went
along with the state in favoring

pnONTlER DAYS in Rockdale
are just around the corner.
There's quite a bit of news in this
issue of The Reporter about the
big celebration that starts next
Thursday, and there'll he more
next week. You haven’t got much
time left to do what you intend
to do. Get your frontier clothes
together, enter a contest, read the
complete program and make up
your mind now to join the fun
during those three days. Every-
body else is!
Flag Day Next
the risk of wearing cvcry-
^ body out on the flag subject
I'd like to point out that next
Thursday, in addition to starting
off Frontier Days here, is also
National Flag Day. Fly a flag.
And if you don't have one to fly,
you can get one at cost 'just $3'
at The Reporter office. Every
home should have one of these
kits. In addition to the big Unit-
ed States 50-star flag, there's a
small Texas flag. too.
Since starting this flag promo-
tom we have sold completely out
of flag kits and have had to re-
order. We're not trying to make
money on this venture; we're
simply interested in getting peo-
ple in the old fashioned habit of
flag-waving.
outcome. Milam county went op- l
positc to the state vote in favor- .
ing Yarborough for governor and
Turman for lieutenant governor.
Milam county voters, on the |
other hand, went along with the 1
state majority in giving the nod I
to Pool for congressman at large
and with the district in favoring I
Phillips over Ferguson in the as- '
sociate justice voting.
To make the split about as
cven-Steven as possible, Milam |
county voters came close to a tie
vote in the attorney general’s race, i
going for the state victor, Carr,
by only 7 votes out of 3387.

Seniors are Winners
F'lag Day next Wednesday is
a must. Every home in Rockdale
should fly the American flag on
that day, and on every oilier oc-
casion.
Some History
\jytIY f’lag Day? Well, it is a
day set aside by presidential
proclamation for flying the United
States flag. It is not a legal holi-
day, however, except in the state
of Pennsylvania.
Traditionally the day set aside
is June 14 because it was on June
14. 1377, that the Continental
Congress adopted the Stars and
Stripes as the official flag of the
USA. Simultaneously, the federal
government requested that all
public buildings float the flag in
honor of the day.
F'lag Day went along with lit-
tle notice or interest until a Frce-
rionia, Wisconsin, school teacher.
Dr. B. J Cigrand, promoted the
idea in his classes and also wrote
